General Tips Short Version Thank you for your interest in ordering your own customized Gift of a Lifetime poster or DVD. Since each Gift of a Lifetime product is personalized, we have set up an easy-to-use procedure to get everything we need from you. There are four easy steps to follow. First step - you (the client) must be placed into our system. Here’s how… To be placed into our system, this is merely done by following the ordering steps on-line. (Click here to Get started and Order) If you (the client), however, if you are uncomfortable about ordering on-line, you may also order by phone, fax, or by regular mail. Second step - we need names, important dates, and other pertinent information to be used as text in your Gift of a Lifetime product. Here’s how…For all posters, you (the client) are to E-mail us this information. Please scroll to your product section. To order by phone, simply call our toll free number 1-800-675-6000. Third step - getting the photos to us. Here’s how…The process of sending your photos is simple and straightforward. You can upload them by following the instructions on our easy-to-use photo uploader page. You may also e-mail your photos, (please call us at 1-800-675-6000 for e-mail instructions). Fourth Step - review & approve your Gift of a Lifetime product. You (the client) will have the opportunity to view a final proof of your Gift of a Lifetime product to approve it as is or to make changes. You will receive your proof via e-mail. Please go to top of the page and click your particular Gift of a Lifetime product for specific instructions. For more detailed General Tips scroll down. Print and fill out order form and send along with your photographs and check or money order to: Gift of a Lifetime, LLC * 24 Treworthy Road * Gaithersburg, MD 20878. We also have catalogues and brochures - with order forms - available. To order by catalogue or brochure, cut out the order form from the Gift of a Lifetime Catalogue or Brochure and repeat process above. You (the client) may also order by fax, as well. Fill out order form and fax to (301) 251-8537. If ordering by fax if you choose not to order by credit card, payment must be sent to us before you (the client) are placed in our system. Being placed in our system, means that we have received your billing and shipping information, your e-mail, the product(s) you will be ordering, and payment (by credit card, check, or money order). When this step is completed, you (the client) will then receive a confirmation and an ID number to reference and check the status of your order. When mailing or faxing your order to us, one of our representatives will then contact you (the client) by phone and place you into our system. When calling, faxing, or mailing your order, you (the client) will receive your ID number and confirmation as soon as it is received at our office - by phone and then by e-mail. Second step, we need names, important dates, and other pertinent information to be used as text in your Gift of a Lifetime product. Here’s how…For all posters, you (the client) are to E-mail us this information. Please scroll to your product section – Section 2 – or click link at the top of this page - to see the text we need for your particular product. (Copy and paste the text questionnaire for your particular product onto the e-mail then fill out and send.) On the e-mail, also be sure to include your (the client’s) name, your ID number, the product(s) you ordered, and the date you ordered. You may also send or fax this information. For conveying pertinent information to us for the Gift of a Lifetime DVD “Video Biography”, please go to Video Biography section. Third step, getting the photos to us. Here’s how…The process of sending your photos is simple and straightforward. You can upload them by following the instructions on our easy-to-use photo uploader page. You may also e-mail your photos, (please call us at 1-800-675-6000 for e-mail instructions). If you prefer, you may also send your photographs to us via mail. When sending your original photographs, we highly recommend that you take your photos to your local Walgreen or Reitz Store’s, etc. (photo development department) and tell them that you would like the photos to be scanned and placed on CD at the highest possible resolution (minimum 300 dpi). Send your CD to us: Gift of a Lifetime, LLC * 24 Treworthy Road * Gaithersburg, MD 20878. This is, by the way, an affordable process, from $3.00 to $5.00 for “between 100 and” 300 photos on one CD. (To keep the price under $5.00 you will probably have to scan the photos yourself. It does take about 2 minutes to scan each photo, so though easily done it will take about 200 minutes, over 3 hours, to scan 100 photos.) By taking this extra step, you will not risk your original photographs from being accidentally damaged or lost. Furthermore, it will back up your original photographs and insure that those photographs scanned on the CD will be better preserved. The CD will be returned with your product. If, however, you do prefer to send us your original photos, please number them in chronological order and insure them with your mail carrier. When we receive your photos, this will require our staff to scan your photos into our editing and design computer programs. Because of the time involved, we have to add an additional charge (for the Gift of a Lifetime Video Biography DVD only). There is an (additional) $50 scan charge for the Quick Shot video biography, an (additional) $75 scan charge for the Scrapbook video biography, and an (additional) $100 charge for the Premiere video biography (because of the time involved in scanning each photo sent). The CD (we have scanned your photos onto) will be sent with your Gift of a Lifetime product. To avoid these additional charges, simply download, e-mail your photos (call for e-mail instructions), or scan your photos on CD and send to us as mentioned. There are no extra scan charges for any of the posters with 20 photographs or less. For those posters that have from 21 to 35 photographs, there is a $35 charge; for 36 to 50 photographs there is a $50 charge. Again, to avoid these additional charges, simply download, e-mail your photos (call for e-mail instructions), or scan your photos on CD and send to us as mentioned above. Please remember the higher the resolution (quality) of the photos you send, the better the appearance of your poster. For video clips, phone interviews, and home movies used for the Gift of a Lifetime DVD “Video Biography”, go to Video Biography section. Fourth Step, review & approve your Gift of a Lifetime product. You (the client) will have the opportunity to view a final proof of your Gift of a Lifetime product to approve it as is or to make changes. You will receive your proof via e-mail. (For text errors on the posters, such as a mis-spelled name or a minor change, such as a color change, we will correct any mistakes and make any changes – free of charge. However, for major changes of design, such as rearranging the photos, changing the entire design, deleting and adding photos, etc. - the fee is $35 per change.) For reviewing and approving the Gift of a Lifetime DVD, go to Video Biography section. Section 2 Specific Tips for your particular Gift of a Lifetime Product Gift of a Lifetime Video Biography DVD All video biographies include a phone meeting with a member of our staff to go over the life of the recipient, names, dates, pertinent information, music selections, and suggestions for the best video clips/phone interviews (if applicable). We don’t want to give away all our secrets over the air-waves so when we set up a phone meeting we’ll give you all of the tips and instructions to sending us the best possible video footage, home movies, interviews, etc. Remember, in selecting your photos, include your favorites as well as those that might be considered cute, touching, funny, or inspirational. All photos that you have, even those that are as old as 100 plus years of age, are acceptable. You will be sent a “final draft” of your Video Biography on DVD to approve as is or to modify. For minor changes, we are happy to make the changes free-of-charge. However, for changes or modifications that will take our designers more than one hour to complete, there will be a $50 per hour charge - for each hour after the first hour. All Gift of a Lifetime “Video Biographies” are produced on DVD with a colorful, personalized cover. You may order duplicates. Each duplicate is $15.00 plus shipping. There are three Gift of a Lifetime “Video Biography” Packages. Here are additional tips for each: Quick Shot This production includes 50 photos. It is ideal for graduations, retirements, sports, hobbies, etc. emphasizing a particular area of a person’s life. Please upload, e-mail, or send up to 50 photos in chronological order. Scrapbook This production includes 85 photos and 4 video clips. It is ideal to honor a person or couple’s life. Please upload, e-mail, or send up to 85 photos (in chronological order) and up to 4 video clips (que’d up) (We accept VHS, DVD, mini-DV, and hi-8. For other formats please call us at 1-800-675-6000). Premiere This production includes 125 photos, 5 video clips and 5 phone interviews. A true video biography. Please upload, e-mail, or send up to 125 photos (in chronological order) and up to 6 video clips (que’d up), and the names and phone numbers of 5 friends to conduct digitally recorded phone interviews. If possible, in your photo selection, try to include photographs and/or home movies of parents and even grandparents. It adds to the Gift of a Lifetime “Video Biography” to be able to include a bit of the recipient’s “family-tree”. Gift of a Lifetime “Movie Poster” There are three templates to choose from… Classic (Smaller Jenkins) Send 3-5 photos. Feature (Lampiris) Please send 7-8 photos. Blockbuster (Jenkins) Please send 7-8 photos. For the Blockbuster, we will also need actual quotes from 4 loved ones/friends describing the recipient(s). For example, for a married man, the wife might be quoted as saying, “I’m glad you’re the one I married.” This quote would be used in the poster. Please note: keep quotes short and sincere, nothing phoney. Please note we may not use every photo you send, due to resolution or design difficulties, so please indicate your favorite photos. For each poster template selected, it is helpful if you could send us 2 to 4 additional photos as a back up, in case there is a resolution or other “design” problem with the first-choice photos. For each Movie Poster, we will need you to fill out the Credits. Copy and paste the following movie credits then fill it out and E-mail to us. Gift of a Lifetime presents a______________________________________________________________FAMILY PRODUCTION. Starring______________________________________________, _______________________________________________. Co-Staring ______________________, ____________________, ____________________, and _______________________. Written and Directed by _________________________________________________________________________________. If there are more than seven names we will replace their names with the broad title: i.e.” Co-starring the children and grandchildren” In selecting your photos, include your favorite, cutest, and most memorable pictures. As an example, for an occasion such as an anniversary, please include your wedding picture, a current picture, as well as a photo with children, if so blessed, when they were young and one with them now. Remember, the resolution of the photos has to be at least 300 dpi for the bigger posters. For all posters you may order duplicates. The price per duplicate is between $10 and $14 depending on the size of the print. You also have the option of ordering your posters unframed or framed. To order your Movie Poster framed – ready for displaying – there is an additional charge of between $12 and $45 depending on the size and type of frame you would like. Gift of a Lifetime “Military Commemoration” There are two templates to choose from… Please provide by E-mail your name, the organization or military branch, rank, years served, or any other special detail that you would like included. -Salute- (Basic) Send 2 to 4 photos. Please include official shot in uniform and action shot, and/or picture of squad, and/or regiment, and/or of base, etc. -Ticker-Tape - (Deluxe) Send 15 to 20 photos. If possible, please include a photo of your dog tags, yearbook shots from basic training, and any medals you might be entitled. New! Gift of a Lifetime “Firefighter Commemoration” There are two templates to choose from… Basic - Send 2 to 4 photos. Please include official shot in uniform, action shot, and/or of squad, and/or of engine company/fire-house. Deluxe - Send 15 to 20 photos. Please include any newspaper clippings, action shots, helmet, insignia, if possible. For each Military Commemoration or Firefighter Commemoration we also need the following information E-mailed or sent to us. Gift of a Lifetime “Generation to Generation" There are 3 templates to choose from… 2 - Generations - Please send 12 to 20 photos. 3 - Generations - Please send 18 to 26 photos. 4 - Generations - Please send 24 to 32 photos. Gift of a Lifetime “Family Memories There are three templates. These prints honor family. Ideal for Christmas, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day. Select face profile of your athlete and action shot as well as third favorite. Original 4 - 5 photos required. Select action shots and favorite pics of your athlete. Snapshot 5 - 6 photos required. Action shots, team shots, and a high-resolution close-up, action shot is ideal. Classic 7 - 10 photos required. Team action, individual action. Custom Design: 5-10 photos required. Select favorites depending on the look you want. Be sure to include pics of those who went on the trip in front of attractions, playing, swimming, snorkeling, etc. and landmarks/landscapes. Dream Vacation - Two prints for the price of one. One exceptional print featuring landmarks and attractions of your destination. The second extraordinary print featuring you and your fellow travelers in front of attractions. Plese send 35 to 50 photos of your trip. For text, please include name, destination, and date of trip. Optional: in two sentences or less, please include any special memory.
